Title: Using certain palindromic polynomials to improve decimator filter design
Abstract:
The purpose of presentation is to show how the applications of mathematical results regarding the certain palindromic polynomials having all zeros on the unit circle, can be used to improve digital filter design. More precisely, we explore the design of the comb-based decimation filter. The simple multiplierless filters, derived from certain palindromic polynomials, introduce additional zeros into the comb folding bands, and separate doubled zeros, thus improving the comb aliasing rejection. Two classes of palindromic polynomials to introduce additional zeros into comb folding bands, and to separate doubled zeros, respectively, are explored in order to increase the widths and attenuations in comb filter folding bands. The benefit of this approach is illustrated in examples and compared with the nominal design of the original comb filter.
